Day of Surgery
Recovery Room Observation

After surgery, your cat is monitored in our recovery room until fully awake from anaesthesia. We check vitals, confirm stable breathing, and assess pain levels before discharge. You'll receive a call when they're ready.

💊
Days 1–3
Rest, Medication & Monitoring

Keep your cat in a quiet, warm space. Administer prescribed pain relief twice daily. Prevent licking of the incision site using an E-collar. Limit activity — no jumping or running. Offer small amounts of water and food.

🔍
Days 4–7
Incision Check & Progress

Inspect the incision site daily for redness, swelling, or discharge. Your cat should be eating and drinking normally. Energy levels will slowly return. Our vet will call on Day 7 to check in on recovery progress.

✅
Days 10–14
Suture Removal & Full Clearance

Return visit for suture removal (if non-absorbable stitches were used). Full physical examination and clearance to resume normal activity. We'll provide a complete health report and vaccination update.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Our team is happy to help.

What age should my cat be spayed or neutered?
We recommend spaying or neutering cats between 4–6 months of age, before they reach sexual maturity. However, healthy adult cats can also be safely spayed or neutered — there's no upper age limit as long as your cat is in good health.
How long is the recovery period?
Most cats recover within 7–10 days. Male cats typically bounce back faster (3–5 days) since the neuter procedure is less invasive. Female cats may need a full 10–14 days before sutures are removed and they're fully cleared.
Is the procedure safe?
Yes. Spay and neuter are among the most commonly performed veterinary surgeries with very low complication rates. Our licensed vet performs full pre-anaesthesia health checks and monitors your cat throughout the procedure and recovery.
How should I prepare my cat for surgery?
Withhold food for 8–12 hours before surgery (water is fine until 2 hours before). Bring your cat in a secure carrier. Ensure vaccinations are up-to-date — we require proof at the time of surgery for the safety of all animals in our care.
Will my cat's personality change after surgery?
Core personality traits — playfulness, affection, curiosity — remain unchanged. What does reduce are hormone-driven behaviours like spraying, yowling, aggression, and roaming. Most owners report their cats become calmer and more affectionate.
What's included in the surgical package price?
The fee covers the pre-surgery exam, anaesthesia, the surgical procedure, wound care, recovery monitoring, pain medication, a take-home aftercare guide, and a follow-up call on Day 7. Suture removal (if required) is included at no extra charge.
